Three Celebrations

Happy New Year!  Ruth Ayres invites us to celebrate each week. Click here for link up.
Las year's Christmas tree

Christmas break was perfect. Life isn't perfect but having both our children home together was perfect. Playing cards and games. Time to talk which is a treasured gift with our adult children.  Two weeks of vacation and time the last week to catch up from the holidays and enjoy some time for reading was a celebration.

OLW: Perspective  I really have started reflecting on what's important for me as well as my family.  My OLW is already creeping into to my thoughts, conversations at school and decisions that we're making at home.  I am constantly amazed how OLW can have such an impact on my life. I celebrate that I made the right choice for me.

Finally I celebrate two snow days this week.  Not because we were off school but because I had extra time with our son.  He is leaving to go back to college and we were able to have a few shopping trips for little things he needed.  More cards and games. Best of all more conversations. I celebrate being a mom it's the best job in the world.

  2. I LOVE playing games and cards! I wish that I got to play more often. I think the best part of playing games is the conversations that go on during the game. Glad you got that time and extra time!

  3. A break with everyone at home, playing and talking, is perfect indeed. The idea of OLW is interesting, it seems to be more positive and fun than any resolution.

    1. I quit making resolutions years ago but my OLW really helps me focus. Follow a few different people this year that is how I learned about it.

  4. Such a gift to have more time with your son! I haven't done the OLW before, but am trying it this year. Mine is breathe. I will be watching to see how people do this OLW thing. :)

    1. It's a wonderful journey to be on with a OLW it becomes part of me. I always enjoy reading everyone's blogs about their word. I think the word breathe is an excellent choice. It was on my list and still is for possibilities.

  5. Some of my colleagues with sons or daughters home were sad to be at work this week, missing that time, Maria. It's lovely that the snow days gave you extra days with your son. Hope the weather settles down. We had such ups and downs this week, no days off, but bitter cold several days. Guess it is winter after all! Have a good rest of the weekend!

    1. Yes it is always sad when they leave ...we raised our children to be independent and are so proud of them. But a mother's heart is always with her kids. Stay warm and thanks for commenting.

  6. Snow days are worthy of celebration - and snow days spent with grown children are worth fireworks. I always find it hard for a few days after our university age kids leave - the house seems so empty. But my heart is full.
